ToT Courses on Forensic Examination in Sexual Offence Cases – A Special Feature
The Govt. of India has launched a National Mission for Safety of Women with participation of Stake Holder, Ministries/Departments and States/UTs. Under this national mission for safety of women, training and skill development of investigators, prosecutors and doctors has been envisaged with quantitative targets in stipulated time.
Ministry of Home Affairs (GoI) has entrusted the responsibility to this Institute imparting training to Medical Doctors from all over India in Medico-Legal examination of the Survivors and the Accused in Sexual offence cases using standard protocols. In this endeavor NICFS is conducting Training of Trainers courses on every Friday and Saturday with objectives:
- To impart training to the Medical Doctors in proper collection of the evidence materials during Medico-legal examination and prepare themselves as trainer for disseminating the skill gained, to the Medical Officers in their jurisdiction.
- The orientation of the doctors towards Medico-legal examination in sexual offence cases using latest protocols shall be vital for increasing the rate of conviction and curbing the Sexual Offence cases against women as envisaged in the National Mission for the Safety of Women launched by the Government of India.
The 1st ToT Course on Forensic Examination in Sexual Offence Cases was inaugurated on 31st August, 2018 by Senior IAS officer Smt. Punya Salila Srivastava, Joint Secretary (MHA, Govt. of India) who is heading the Division dealing with all type of Women Safety in coordination with relevant ministries, departments and state government.
